Ostlänken Höghastighetsjärnväg
SYSTRA, in consortium with COWI, won the project management contract to produce preliminary designs for a section of Sweden’s high speed Ostlänken line.
These designs will be used to obtain the planning permission required from the Swedish authorities to start work on this 154 km line.
SYSTRA has been commissioned to work on the third package of the Ostlänken HSR project, a 65 km section between Stavjsö and Sillekrog via Nyköping.
The Ostlänken project is part of a national high speed programme to connect Sweden’s three main cities, Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö.
Swedish infrastructure manager, Travikverket is due to start full commercial operation of the line in 2028.
SYSTRA’s role
SYSTRA is in charge of producing preliminary designs, assessing the impact of the project, preparing documents for the public enquiry and land acquisition, landscaping and obtaining environmental authorisations.
SYSTRA will be in charge of:
- Alignment and systems (track, electric power systems, signalling and communications)
- High speed rail issues associated with the environment, landscaping, noise and vibrations etc.
- Civil engineering designs for roads and engineering structures
