Åstorp Train Yard Refurbishment
SYSTRA was commissioned as leading technical consultant in a turnkey contract (as subconsultant to the contractor) to raise the standard of Åstorp yard to enable increased passenger and freight traffic in conjunction with the opening of the Hallandsås tunnels.
The project involved reconstruction of Åstorp train yard, an important railway junction in north-west Skåne. This resulted in a new track configuration, with the replacement of 22 points, a new catenary system and the reconstruction of the interlocking with a new interlocking interface with Söderås Line.
SYSTRA task was to lead their own design work, both with our own resources and subcontractors, and to develop the detailed design for the three stages at which the whole yard was rebuilt. This also resulted in the generation of interlocking. After construction was the operation documents were also taken forward.
