Stenkullen and Algutsgården, Western Mainline
SYSTRA was commissioned as subconsultant to the contracted party with Trafikverket to design the signaling and telecommunication requirements for two new operating sites with bypass tracks, in order to expand the capacity of the Western Main Line.
The Western Main Line is one of Sweden’s most important railways and the maximum track capacity has been reached. Construction of these bypass tracks allows faster passenger trains to pass slower passenger and freight trains.
SYSTRA was responsible as subconsultant for the design of complete signalling and telecommunications documentation for the end solutions in both Stenkullen and Algutsgården. Additionally SYSTRA was responsible for the production of the signal phase solutions for the contractor in Algutsgården. The operation sites are controlled by the new interlocking Ebilock 950, which also controls Alingsås operation site. Algutsgården opened to traffic in late 2015 and Stenkullen opened to traffic one year later.
